WordPress gives you the ability to set up new users for your blog with different levels of access. This can be really helpful if you want to have lots of people contributing content to your blog. This way, you can have a team of people writing new posts without giving everyone the power to accidentally break your site. Here’s a link to the section of the WordPress codex that talks at great length about the different user roles and capabilities – WordPress Roles and Capabilities
Here’s a brief summary to get your started:
* Administrator – Somebody who has access to all the administration features
* Editor – Somebody who can publish posts, manage posts as well as manage other people’s posts, etc.
* Author – Somebody who can publish and manage their own posts
* Contributor – Somebody who can write and manage their posts but not publish posts
* Subscriber – Somebody who can read comments/comment/receive news letters, etc.
Setting up new users with these different roles is really easy to do too. You can create, access, and edit user profiles from your WordPress dashboard menu. Just log in to your site as the admin, and the Users menu should be on your left.
