One other thought. Ustream's lowest no ad buy in is $99./mo. Seems reasonable given they are a very high traffic site where you can create a following with an effective tags program.

The other alternative is a shared server with FME server for under $50/mo. (subperb.net for one) but you lose any chance of outside viewership.

Like to know your feelings.
Thanks for the time.

Great report, Karl! I guess the idea is to embed the player and tell people to stay there. Thanks!

Matt,
UStream does have ads, but it seems that they don't show when people use the embedded player. I noticed last night that when I clicked on the middle of an embedded UStream player, it takes me to the UStream site and there are ads. But when I clicked on the play button at the bottom left corner of the embedded player, there were no ads.

Hey Matt! Right now we use LiveStream in the blog templates we've created for Campus Ministries. LiveStream works really well, and the free ProCaster software is robust. The problem? Ads! A church here was using Livestream when a Trojan ad popped up. Not exactly what they were looking for. You can get an ad-free LiveStream feed....for $350/month!! UStream's interface is also very easy, and I really like some of the social media features. And....it's both ad-free and free-free. In addition, UStream also supports iPhone apps for both viewing AND broadcasting from your iPhone. VERY COOL!! For that reason, we are going to be moving some of our training to Ustream.
