Featured Facebook Apps: Ask Questions With Polls

by sam

Mashable recently highlighted 5 Essential Apps for Facebook Fan Pages. Here are a few ideas for how you can use the Poll app to maximize engagement and community on your ministry fan page.

The Poll App allows you to poll your audience, and ask for their opinions. This can be really useful for getting instant feedback about your ministry, and can be a great way to increase participation in a live event. For example, you could:

  • Find out what elements of your weekly meeting people connect with

This kind of instant feedback can help you streamline your weekly meeting planning and tailor program elements to meet the felt needs of your audience.

  • Ask if there’s a particular Bible study topic or meeting time that appeals to people

Just like with your weekly meetings, you can use this kind of instant feedback to more effectively tailor Bible studies to answer questions people are asking

  • Pose a question related to the talk that a speaker has just given, or is going to give at your next event

Respond to the poll results either on your fan page, or live, to encourage ongoing conversations. If done right, this can greatly increase group participation and foster more community by allowing people to take part in an interactive experience.

  • Host a video or photo contest

Use this app in combination with videos or photos to host a contest where people submit a video, or picture, that promotes your next big ministry event – like a conference or retreat. You pick the finalists, and use the poll app to let others vote on the winner. Offering a prize to the winner gives people an incentive to enter your contest, and tell all of their friends to go to your site to vote for them. All of this increases engagement with people currently involved with your ministry, and also creates a buzz and awareness about your ministry to a whole new audience.
