Adding Video to Your Blog Posts and the Youtuber Plugin

by sam

Here’s a step by step guide to adding videos from websites like Youtube to your blog posts. There’s a few different ways to do this. First we’ll show you how to embed videos using an embed code, and then we’ll show you an even easier way to do it using a plugin.

Embedding a Video Using the Embed Code

1. Find the video you wish to embed. Then select and copy the code from the Embed box

2. If you wish to customize the code, select the blue icon next to the Embed box. You’ll have some options for adjusting what the video will look like once you’ve posted it, like size and border.

3. In your post/page, make sure the HTML tab is highlighted. Then paste the code that you obtained from Youtube into the content box

4. Make sure to Publish or Update the post/page

Adding Video Using the Youtuber Plugin

We’ve tried the Youtuber plugin on a few different sites now, and really like it. Unlike embedding videos with the embed code, the Youtuber plugin lets you set the visual settings for all of your embedded videos in one place. This way, all of your embedded Youtube videos can have a uniform size. The downside though is that this plugin only works with Youtube videos, where using the embed code should work with videos from any online source that provides you with an embed code.

Installing the Youtuber Plugin

1. Select Plugins from the left-hand menu, and then select Add New

2. In the search box, enter “youtuber” and select Search Plugins

3. Scroll to find Youtuber from the menu, and click on Install

4. When the popup window comes up, click on Install Now

5. After the files have been installed select Activate Plugin

Adding a Youtube Video Using the Youtuber Plugin

1. In your post/page add the following line of code:

2. Get the Video Id by browsing to the video that you wish to embed. The Video Id is everything after ?v= in the web address

4. For the video shown below, the Video Id is iv50xrsFNDU

5. Type the Video ID (in this case iv50xrsFNDU) into the code you inserted in step 1 in place of the words Video ID

6. Make sure to Publish or Update the post/page

So there you have it. Two different ways to embed video.
