We've seen some people have problems with the Like button if they're also using a Facebook widget or any other element on their page that uses any code from the old Facebook connect. For some reason, the two seem to conflict with each other. Deleting the widget usually makes the button start working.

We've also seen errors if your website is actually in a sub directory. Somewhere in the settings of the Facebook app you created, there should be a setting to specify the site url and the site domain. You'll probably need to fill in these fields to make the button work if your site is in a sub directory rather than in the root directory.
